Akhnoor is a township 30 k.m away from Jammu city.  There was a convent and diocesan English medium school run by Theresian sisters from Trivandrum. When those sisters left the place on their own reasons in 1985, late bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Hippolitus Kunnunkal expressed his desire to us to take forward the mission works. The superiors accepted this invitation and the convent was blessed on 11th August 1985.  Late Mother Demetria, Sr. Rosita, Sr. Shephy Thekkudan, and Sr. Tessy  started working in St. Francis School. The school has come up today as the best school of Akhnoor. Sisters have the privilege of looking after the poor girls of Jammu Srinagar Diocese in the boarding attached to the convent for their better education
